Our Location

Arbre de Cerise is located in the Vienne department of SouthWest France, about 75 miles due east of La Rochelle.

‘Poitou-Charentes’ is the former name for our region – it was changed in 2016 when it was merged with Aquitaine and Limousin to form Nouvelle-Aquitaine (hence the ‘nouvelle’ part of the name).

This region is famous for its mild and sunny climate, agriculture, prestigious vineyards, world renown history and heritage sites, and stunning west coast beaches.

This area is perfect for:

  • Foodies – a wealth of superb restaurants to sample

  • Lovely holiday cottage with loads to do, cycling, has its own pool and a large garden. Very rural area but well within striking distance of local amenities and the town of Sauze Vaussais. Plenty to visit, local markets most days, larger towns are available within an hours drive.
    Visited in September 2019.

  • We are unfortunately back to reality after spending a lovely 2 weeks at Arbre de Cerise. The gîte was spacious for the 4 of us, the pool inviting, the games room a bonus when the weather wasn’t so great, the grounds large enough for the kids to let off steam and the welcome wine and basic provisions supplied were a huge plus.

  • We had a great time in Coquelicot. I recommend this cottage which is very clean, very well equipped (which is rarely the case) and where we were very well received. The pool is large, clean and heated. DVDs are available, as well as bicycles and scooters. The children used the swimming pool, ping-pong table, darts, table-football, bikes and played soccer … I even liked cooking!

  • We spent a wonderful week with 6 adults + 8 children, occupying the Sunflower and Poppy cottages of Karen and David. The sun was shining bright, so we were able to take full advantage of the pool. There is a large cherry tree in the middle of the yard, which allowed us to have all meals outside, choosing to use the shade there if we wished. Karen and David live on site and are very helpful hosts: Whenever we had a question they were available to help us. The place is quiet, in the middle of the countryside.

    Really it was a great vacation, thank you Karen and David and see you soon!
